August 2023- Collective Bargaining Update—PEA Negotiations
This written proposal is consistent with District’s positions during discussions in recent months.
Highlights of the District’s proposal for a five-year contract include:
• Wage Increases
o 5.4% total wage increase in first year
o 16.37% total wage increase over five years
o 3.27% average total wage increase per year over five years
o Step movement years 2-5
o Average salary for all teachers by Year 5: $101,763
o Changes to salary schedule structure to recognize years of service, including removal of
caps on step movement for teachers without Masters degree, column consolidation, and
adding additional step for higher salary
• Starting Salary
o Immediate increase to $51,000 (above County average) (13.3% increase)
o Raise to $56,000 by fifth year (24.4% total increase)
• Top Salary
o Immediate increase to $112,333 (above County average) (6.7% increase)
o Raise to $116,035 by fifth year (10.3% total increase)
Health Insurance
o No changes to employee costs first year
o Monthly premium share contributions (currently 14%)

o Annual Deductibles
▪ Currently $450/$900 (single/family) (in-network)

• Keeps Stipend for Volunteering to Teach Additional Section
o Retains existing language giving teachers the choice to volunteer to earn a stipend by teaching
additional section at high school, middle schools
• Professional Learning Time (PLT)
o Changes structure of the program to address feedback and concerns expressed by PEA
o Would provide substantial opportunities for collaboration with staff on special education and
other topics
• Other Items
o Retirement Pay
▪ $50 per unused sick day (currently $45); or
▪ $110 per all service in PSD (currently $100)
▪ Cap raised to $3,750 (currently $3,500)
o Tuition Reimbursement
▪ Increase from $180/credit to $225/credit for classes used for Level II certification
o Extra-Duty Pay
▪ Increase in payment to nurse/EMT covering special events.
The District looks forward to finalizing the contract with the PEA.
