Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act, COPPA

The Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act, commonly known as COPPA, is a federal law designed to protect the online privacy of children under the age of 13. COPPA establishes requirements for websites, applications, and online services that collect, use, or disclose personal information from children. These requirements help ensure that parents and guardians are informed about how their child’s information may be collected and used.

Pennridge School District’s Application Review Process

Pennridge School District is committed to protecting student information and maintaining the privacy and security of student data.

Before an online application or educational service is approved for use, the District reviews the application to determine whether it is appropriate for the classroom, supports an educational or operational need, and provides suitable protections for student information.

This review is conducted collaboratively by representatives from Student Services, Teaching and Learning, and Technology. The District also uses the 1EdTech Trust application management suite to help assess and document the privacy, security, and data practices of online applications used throughout the District.
