Swine Flu Update

Dear Parents and Guardians:

As you may already know, an outbreak of swine flu has caused the U.S. to issue a public health emergency. We are aware of your concerns and continue to monitor the situation closely to protect the health of our students. The good news is that we do not have any known cases of swine flu in the area.

Our teachers and nurses have been instructed to look closely for symptoms of the flu: fever, lethargy, lack of appetite, coughing, sore throat, nausea/vomiting and diarrhea. Children who exhibit these symptoms should be seen by a doctor as soon as possible.

To prevent the spread of the flu, follow these recommendations:

• cough or sneeze into the bend of your elbow or tissue;
• properly dispose of used tissues;
• wash your hands frequently and thoroughly with soap and warm water;
• use an alcohol-based (at least 60%) hand sanitizer;
• avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth.

If you have any questions, please visit the Center for Disease Control and Prevention or the Bucks County Department of Health.

Let me assure you that the health and well-being of our students is our top priority and we are doing everything possible to address the situation. Please feel free to contact your children's building principal if you have any questions or concerns. As more information becomes available, we wil keep you updated.
