NOTICE OF KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION

The Pennridge School District is currentlyplanning kindergarten registration for the 2010/2011 school year. Information packets are scheduled to be mailed in mid-February to each district resident with a child who will reach the age of 5 on or before August 31, 2010. These names are taken from the district’s census database. If you or someone you know has a child that meets the age requirement, and has not received a packet by February 19, please call the District Office at 215-257-5011 to obtain one.

Please note that all registration is done by appointment only. Registration will be conducted at the District Education Center, 1200 North Fifth Street in Perkasie during 10 days in March.

Appointments will be scheduled every 15 minutes between 8:30 a.m. and 3:45 p.m. during 10 days in March.

You will be given the next available appointment when you call and your packet will include all the necessary forms and instructions. The day your child registers DOES NOT affect their placement. Whether you are registering the first child on the first day or the last child on the last day has no bearing on your child’s placement. (Please read placement procedures below).

**PLEASE NOTE THE NEW REGISTRATION PROCEDURES **

In the past, registration into the home school was done on a “first come, first served” basis. As of the 2007/2008 school year, new procedures were implemented. The new process is as follows:

All completed registrations will now be assigned to an elementary building at the end of March. Children entering kindergarten who have older siblings that attend an elementary school during the next school year will be given preference to be assigned to their home school. All other students who have completed registrations will be assigned to an elementary school by lottery with the intent to assign them to their home school first if seats are available. Overcrowding, an inability to accommodate the number of kindergarten registrants with siblings in the home attending school and/or high attendance in an area could cause your student to be placed in a neighboring elementary school for kindergarten.

We recommend that you make every effort to register during the 10 registration dates offered. Please bring all the required documents that are listed in the enclosed packet.
Registration will not be considered complete without the following:

• Completed packet
• Original documentation of your child’s birth
• Proof of required immunizations
• Proof of parent residency (three forms required)
• Parent Photo ID

If any of these items are missing at your appointment, the child’s registration will not be considered complete. The missing items(s) will need to be delivered to the district office before the child will receive placement. If your child’s registration is in compliance before March 31, then the packet will be considered complete and included in the initial lottery.

After the end of the March registration, students will be assigned on a “first-come, first-served” basis to an elementary school closest to their home that has openings.

In the event your child will not be attending the school where he/she is registered, please notify the school office immediately. At that time we will attempt to accommodate the next child on the waiting list.
