Principles of Science

Attendance:

  • You are responsible for keeping up with the work and getting the assignments for the day of your absence. Check the weekly/monthly calendar on a regular basis.
  • Be in class on time. When you arrive to class, prepare for the lesson by opening your notebooks and finding the assigned work.
  • If you are tardy and do not have a pass, you will be given a tardy.
  • If you miss a class due to a field trip, meeting, and/or illness, you are responsible for keeping up with the work and getting the assignments for the day of your absence. Find a homework buddy or check the web site.
  • Do not leave class without a pass and without signing out. All students who are in the halls during class time must have a pass.
  • Attendance in class is required for the successful completion of the course.

Laboratory Work:

  • Students who are absent on the day of a lab or in-class activity are required to arrange to complete the missed work within one cycle.
  • Safety is the top priority! Not only your safety, but also the safety of your classmates. Follow the all of the safety procedures.
  • Food or drinks are not permitted in any science classroom.

Homework:

  • Always attempt to do your homework. Homework is checked for a valid attempt. It is meant as a reinforcement of the concepts covered in class. Remember practice makes perfect.
  • If for some reason (other than an absence from class), late homework will be reduced by 10% for each school day that it is late.

Your Grade:

  • Grades will be determined on the basis of the total points earned during a marking period. You will receive a grade sheet twice a quarter, at interim time and at the end of the quarter. You can check your progress at any time, preferably at the end of a class..
  • You are advised to keep a record of your grades.
  • Assigned work will be returned to you promptly.

Please remember:

Everything we do in class is designed to enhance your knowledge of science and the processes of science. We will have a very educational and productive year, and we will also have a lot of fun learning science.
